Ken,
not sure about the specifics of the Crossfire but other cars I have owned had a magnetic drain plug to collect the fine metal particles and allow removal at oil change time. Therefore using a top pump these metal particles stay in the engine, which is a bad idea.

My experience is on older technology when I was young and did my own servicing and didn't have a job and a family and no time ! I'm even working today ( Sunday ) 12:00 - 21:00. Can't wait to retire !
