Default Battery warning light

My battery warning light keeps coming on when engine revs go above 4k. There's no play in the drive belt and no squealing due to belt slipping. It doesn't seem to matter if system is under full load (lights, heated rear screen etc.) or it's parked up with just the engine on.

Any ideas?

This is the third problem in a month:

1
Oil leak, needing new sump

2
Noisy water pump, awaiting replacement

3
Now this

Getting just a tad ticked off: it's a 2006 with 15k on it so it's warrantied. Nevertheless, that new 370Z is looking more attratctive by the month.

Any help appreciated as I'm not convinced about driving it this weekend

Cheers
