Re: Radar Detector...
One other observation for those of you who think it is the unit saving your butt. If I am radaring traffic from an elevated entrance ramp to an interstate. Here's what is going on. My unit is in standby mode...I watch for what I am in the mood for...70 mph zone. not looking for anything under 80mph. Many times I will see an 80, but do to the traffic congestion, I will not get a clear shot at him in order to get a "track"...other vehicles are in the way moving slower...in this situation, doesn't matter whether I have it on or not, thus many times, that speeder thinks he got away with it, which he did, but traffic saved his butt, not the detector...now, one on one...here I come, clear shot, clear track, can prove it in court...he's mine...this is truely what should happen, but there are officers who will take one in a group, or shoot the last car in a pack...I like to be able to testify I got the right guy. Now detectors will tell you I am setting up there doing my job once I engage a target, so they are useful, but not fool proof...
