Strange, I did get my iPod to work, but as stated, not necessarily a cost effective solution. I installed a compatible 6 disc CD Changer under the cargo area cover on the passenger side (normally reserved for first aid kit in europe) and then got a Becker iPod adapter kit. Some creative wiring and the NAV head unit thinks the CD changer is running, and the inputs are getting audio from the iPod. All of this was done for under $450. I did get a used CD Changer. And getting the Becker iPod kit required me to order it from a european site.
This is the original thread with my original posts on the subject.
That being said, there are some down sides to this setup.
1. I can't see what is playing on the head unit's display.
2. I have to control the iPod from the iPod itself.
3. The volume of the iPod music is a bit muted compared to the radio.
Other than that, I could not be happier. Some day I will change out the head unit, but currently my budget does not allow it.
