we are finishing up our batch of them this week, then they just need to be powdercoated black. we designed this in conjunction with waldig and are very pleased with the outcome (big thanks to woody for all the input). They are made out of 6061 billet aluminum, low restriction, high filtration, easy to drain, direct bolt-on kit with all hoses, fittings, clamps. we looked into using a premade catch can from another manufacturer and just making a crossfire specific bracket but found that these so called "catch cans" dont have any filtration inside them to filter the oil, lol. so we finalized on a 3 chambered design with stainless steel filtration media.
why would we need such a part?
the 2 smaller (one on each bank) valve cover ports feeding into the bottom of the throttle body are pulling oil into the intake stream, this is coating everything after the throttle body with oil. for those of you srt6 guys that have looked at the inside of their intercooler, air distribution ypipe or intake manifolds will know what im refferring to. this oil coating is a innefficiency to the cooling and flow thru the intercooler and hinders flow thru the ypipe and manifolds. the spark plugs will eventually foul as well due to this oil. in short, its crud and we don't want it.
these cans have been in testing since last fall and all revisions have been made already
ill be finalizing pricing this week but this will be a cheap and effective mod for you guys. it will work on the na xfires also, but we haven't tested on one yet to determine how much oil we will catch on them.
anyone want them coated anything other then black? i like the "blend in black" but am open to suggestions. Or we could ship them uncoated if you wanted to do your own paint scheme.
