We installed the pulley exactly how it was stated in ASP's directions (torqued down to spec) and I haven't had any issues. It might be possible some people are over torquing the bolts? I am not sure.....
once the origional bolt is torqued for the first time, it stretches by design. Reusing the bolt and retorquing it is specifically stated in the service guide as a no no. It is a one time use bolt.
I have seen my share of bolts sheared and that came loose after proper torquing due to the reuse.
