I called my local MB dealer (Cherry Hill, NJ) and they said it's not something they go through so they don't stock them.

My local Chrysler dealer ordered it for me and claim it should be in tomorrow morning?!?! (all the way from Detroit) Crossing my fingers- if not I'll just do the install with the original bolt. Both Chris (distantpulse) and Rob from Needswings re-used theirs without issue.

Yeah, I am not sure what you guys are talking about with the original bolt = a bad idea?? We installed the pulley exactly how it was stated in ASP's directions (torqued down to spec) and I haven't had any issues. It might be possible some people are over torquing the bolts? I am not sure.....

once the origional bolt is torqued for the first time, it stretches by design. Reusing the bolt and retorquing it is specifically stated in the service guide as a no no. It is a one time use bolt.

I have seen my share of bolts sheared and that came loose after proper torquing due to the reuse.

just my 2 cents......

Wow, I never heard of that. LoL, learn something new everyday! Mine seems ok, but I will check it.

It's not a bad idea................it's WRONG to re-use the OEM crank bolt. ASP didn't manufacture and/or sell the crank bolt and that's their "bad" for not informing their customers of such a requirement. Maybe they figured the pullies would be installed by trained techs. who know that that bolt is one time use.

Yeah, I don't have issues at the moment, but is it something I should replace?

I guess since it's only $7 we probally should go back and replace it just to be safe. I have 5000 miles on my ASP with re-used bolt, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Agreed. I'm going to do it. Cheap insurance.
