I had a Porsche 924 and always considered the engine a VW. Audi sounds a little classier. The 924S and the 944's were Porsche engines as I understand. Correct me if I'm wrong. Never heard the Volvo thing.
Thread revival and off topic but I had a VW van with the same engine as the 944, even had a 944 starter motor in the end.
