My car is an 04, and I understand disconnecting the TC on later models sometimes causes different results.
My brake lights worked only when the key was on before I done this mod. The relay's I installed are normally closed so it's just like OEM until I click the remote fob and it's just like pulling #17 & #18 fuses. I had read awhile back that someone said their brake light didn't work when they pulled those fuses, so I went out and checked them with the circuit open and the brake lights still worked. I noticed right after I bought the car new that the brake lights didn't work without the key on. The Crossfires are the only car I've ever seen that the key had to be on for the brake lights to work.
