Wrap electrical tape around the latch catch and that will fix the rattle. I wouldn't worry about the bit of paint but if you want, just get some touch-up paint.
Or, you can take it to the dealer and they'll replace the latch for free. But you'll have to leave it with them 
In my case they wouldn"t install the updated plastic coated latch under warranty because the shop manager pointed out that TSB 23-019-04 rev A specifies only to the 2004 model year. Anyone else have better luck?
