Default Re: Service Indicator

Un-clip the base of the boot from the console. it attaches with 4 little clips that are molded into the rectangular ring that surrounds the base of the boot. Pull the base of the boot up over the ****, inverting it. On the base of the **** you will see a silver threaded retaining ring that screws into the base of the ****. Take a pair of pliers and loosen or tighten the ring whichever you are wanting to do...

Once you unscrew the ring, your **** will pull straight off of the shift lever and then your boot will come right off after it...

Reverse the proceedure to install... If you are going to replace with an aftermarket ****, take a close look at the shape of the shift lever at the top connection point with the ****... You will have to purchase a new **** that has a similar attachment shape, or adapter... Many "Universal" shift ***** won't fit snuggly without some sort of bushing or adapter ring...
