The centering post from Lake Country is designed to be used with their pads that have a center hole when attaching them to the rotary backing plate, which also has a centering hole. You stick the post in the hole (without trying to conjure up all sorts of perverted imagery - I know you guys on this forum pretty well!!) on the backing plate, drop the pad over the post, and remove the post.
On a D/A this exact centering of the pad is not anywhere near as critical as it is on a rotary due to the oscillating action of the D/A. Just eyeball it real good and you'll be fine.
