I purchased the set of pads with the backing plate but the plate didnt come with the centering hole line up. I'll just make one in it. I can drill down from the back side. I kinda thought that was the way it supposed to work. The velcro covers the entire backing plate.

No, no, no! Don't go drilling into the backing plate - just forget about the centering stick. You do NOT need it on a D/A buffer - pad centering is NOT critical with this buffer. Just throw the darn thing away and forget about it. You really don't need to start overcomplicating a very simple process. Please, trust me on this.
