your not misunderstanding. because i didnt know to remove the fan assy. before starting the lack of room caused the male torx to strip on me. same with jturkel. so now there is no way to relaease the tension without replacing the tensioner. m/b part is 500$ and parts.com hasit for 197$. still pretty steep!
maybe there is a way to purchase the e10 torx stud independently of the entire tensioner assembly?
