I work with the State Patrol and Sheriff around here a lot. I am sure, if the rally was in Griffin, GA that I could get the Spalding SHeriff Department to PERHAPS escort us - and I am sure I could get them to direct traffic if we tried to bring 100 cars in at once! But then, this is a smaller community (80,000 people in the whole county).
It does not hurt to ask. Of course, if any TV production crew IS is covering us, the likeyhood of police assistance rises to near 100% (Human nature what it is...)
