It is stuck in place and I wonder if anyone can suggest a way to free it. Also, the ash tray has the same problem, stuck and it wont' open. If you look into my sigline, you'll see that I am a new owner, too. I had the OPPOSITE problem: My cupholder would not STAY DOWN!
I replaced it with the "Storage Bin" from the Basic model - totally happy now!
