Default Re: Replacing front brakes only

I needed an inexpensive set of pads for my W202. The front rotors needed replacement, and I did not want to waste the cash on a "good" set of pads I was just going to throw away in the near future. I had just spent several hundred on the rear brakes as the calipers had failed. I went to Autozone (yep!) and bought the Duralast C-Max ceramic pads. I was skeptical for sure, but they are pretty good pads. Very little dust, and they bite really well cold, and maybe a little better than average when hot. I think they were about $50-60.

I was pleasantly surprised.

As a side note, if you have the single pin rear calipers, do not let the pads get too much below 25%. The design of the caliper is such that each pad is supported by a small rail on the top and bottom. When the pad wears too much, the leverage breaks the ends of the pad support rails off. Expensive to fix.
