Re: tpms low down question
What I want to know is this: Where is the source of power for the Sensors in the rims? What, are there batteries in the sensors or is there an accelerometer thingy that, when the wheel turns, produces a tiny amount of electricity to power it?
And how does it communicate to the car's computer? Does it send a radio signal? If not, HOW does it do it?
I'v googled and gone to "How stuff Works" and posted on "All about circuits" and no one knows.
EDIT: Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tire-pr...itoring_system had some answers.
Now I all have to do is find out if ours are "direct" or "indirect" systems. Sounds like we have battery operated sensors which use RF (radio) signals to tell the car that we have a low tire.
I hate to go by what Wiki says...
