I think a lot of this is misinformation. It is thought to be illegal therefore it must be illegal.

Before doing mine I checked all the California regulations and could not find anything that said you could not do it. I have had mine tinted for more than 3 years with no problems.

Actually just had them sprayed professionally after removing the film. I found it virtually impossible to get rid of all of the bubbles with the film. When the bubbles were gone, I wound up with areas that had an orange peel texture in spots. BTW I used a high quality 3M film.
