Odd combination, huh?

Just got this from my sister (afflicted with M.S. - she's not doing well at all):


There is one interesting thing about my I.V. antibiotic treatment. As I’ve said the nurse comes in to put the IV in then comes back a few days later to remove it. I flush it and administer the med. myself. There is no concern about the rate of flow because this med comes in what looks like a short glass baby bottle. A balloon inside is filled with the medication and once it is hooked up to the IV, the pressure inside the bottle deflates it slowly, administering the med at the proper rate. This also means you are not tied to an IV pole. You can carry the bottle where ever and since gravity has nothing to do with it, you can have bottle lower than where IV is placed in the body. OK, now finally to what I think is interesting. NASA developed this technology so meds can be given in space. Our insurance companies can use this tool to reduce costs since the patient can do it his- or herself. We have benefitted from space exploration in ways we do not realize!

Just thought it was interesting - put it here 'cause I see no reason to make this political. I am a great fan of science and space exploration (manned and unmanned) and thought I'd toot the horn of man's "last frontier of exploration".
