Great that the info helped - I know I couldn't have done it without the forum.
#1 - As far as the screws go if you use a piece of masking tape and tape the screws to the holes in the lower dash when you take them out you don't have to remember which one goes where.
#2 - You are dealing with wires and drilling near your steering wheel and air bag and the battery should always be disconnected - this isn't a shortcut. If the air bag goes off while your working near the SRS wires you're toast. And if the airbag doesn't get you, the price of replacement airbag will. It is always worth the 2 minutes to disconnect and reconnect the battery cable.
