Only if the key has the right chip with the right code on it then the key will work on your car. No other key work. Every key is made in Germany to your VIN # and that is why it is so much money. BUT 400 bugs are toooooooo expansive. Here in Germany those keys cost around 120-200 bugs.
Unless the actual metal key part has a chip embedded in it somehow, I would think that the chip might be in the plastic housing. But, I will see what I can find out.
$120-$140 per key sounds like a better price than the $400 I was quoted, but still what a price.
