8 1/2 quarts slightly overfills our cars if your lazy service tech. sumps out the oil rather than pull the plug. I have a topsider sump from NAPA to pull out just enough oil for correct stick readings when I get stuck with the lazy tech.. It's a really bad happening when there's way to much oil and it makes contact with the bottom of your rotating crankshaft. Aerate's your oil. Squirrel Crusher
