after oil change, the dipstick says the oil is past "max"
For some reason some actually hold 8 quarts and some 8.5 quarts. I put in 8 quarts and the go by the dipstick. I have owned 6 crossfires and they do very.
Also, not sure if this was mentioned, but 8 Liters = 8.5 Quarts.
I'm wondering if some folks are simply measuring with Liters vs. Quarts? Because the M112 Mercedes motor doesn't have any history if requiring less than 8.5 Quarts.
I am going to have to get a longer dipstick as it does not touch the oil, it slowly shrank for some reason because it used to reach the oil.
Does anyone else have this problem and if so where can you get the longer dipstick?
I think it has to be at least 1 1/2” longer to be of any use.

Don't know if there is any difference to the previous post, but the link below takes you to the dipstick for the M-B SLK320 & SLK32 AMG. Part No's are different.

Try this again with a warm engine
“Of course your dipstick shrank. It always happens when inserting the dip stick into cold oil
Have you ever been swimming in cold water?
What did you think would happen?”

Edit
By pure luck I found that the dipstick from a Yugo engine fits perfectly with the 1 1/2” cut off, it shows that it needs about a litre to bring it up to the full mark so I put that spare litre back in. Problem solved, l have put the original dipstick in the For Sale forum, it might be good for something.
😉 Ignore these posts of mine, I am sure you realized I was joking around. 😜
I have been a bit bored lately.
