Did my dealer do my oil change correctly?
I just went in to my dealer for my first oil change. I asked them to save the empty bottles of oil. When they finished they told me that although the book said it takes 8Qts of 0w40 oil, they were only able to fit a touch under 7Qts to fill it up.
Does this mean they didn't drain it properly? If that is the case, is 1 Qt of old oil going to be a problem for the engine (considering I will wait another 11,000kms before the next change)?
I ended up paying $180 CDN (after taxes) for this service, so I expect it to be performed correctly.
Thanks,
Dany

i still havent done an oil change on mine but it is impossible to not drain it properly UNLESS you stick the drain plug back into the oil pan with oil still shooting out full force, i have to do like 3 crappy oil changes a day at lexus amung other things but its virtually impossible to screw up draining the oil. now filling thats another issue, i couldnt tell you if they put enough in or not, but i assure you all your old oil was drained.
Hmmm wouldn't it depend if the dealer "drained" it or "sucked" it. I've seen other information about Mercedes dealership not ever removing a drain plug because they insert that suction tube and pull out the old oil. Now I'm sure that if the (well trained?) Crossfire technician didn't insert the tube all the way to the bottom then not all of the old oil would be removed.
The more times I read about screw-ups with a simple friggin' oil change the more I'm likely to do it myself when the time comes. How the frig can these dealerships screw-up such a simple process.
ARG!
