Hi,

Can someone give me a little advise? I am a Proud owner of a 2004 w/68,500 miles runs great however in March I received an oil change (Mobile 1) and just yesterday I am getting the oil can light in the odometer display on and saying (Hi). Read the owners manual and it's stating that there is to much oil, checked the level and all is fine. Any ideas what could be causing the indicator to go off?

I have an 05 roadster 44,456 miles on my way home from the Carlisle my oil HI ln dictator came on. I just had an oil change 0-40 Mobil 1. I pulled over read the manual too much oil it went out then 1/2 hour driving later it came back on. I did remove some oil less than a pint. Wait and see what happens

 

The book calls for 8 1/2 quarts - but if you putin 8 1/2, you get the hi oil alarm a lot.
My last car, I drove for 73,000 miles on 8 quarts - never saw the alarm.

If the dipstick shows that it is essentially OK, I'd not worry about it, but at the next change make it clear that they are to use only 8 quarts.

 

I changed my oil myself last weekend and put in 8.5 qrts (with new oil filter)...so far no light.

 

8 years changing my own oil and NEVER put in 8.5 quarts
I put in 8 and it's full on the dipstick every time.

8.5 will definitely put it over the full mark
I have never seen the "hi" indicator either

 

Hi all,
I went back to my mechanic and he drew out a pint of oil and the problem seems to be fixed,
no oil can icon on!
