Chrysler dealerships are NOT ALLOWED to order the clear front side markers. For not meeting US or state safety specs. (Alabama laws don't even address this issue).
I would think the same would go for this. Take it up the chain of command and ask the regional service manager how this could happen. If it is a safety issue, hold your ground and demand they make it right. It shouldn't matter if the previous owner swapped it out. He should not have had this part made available to him by by Chrysler.
