You X/F members are great. Thanks for all the help and advice, but I 'm going to suck it up and buy one I found on the internet for $238.00. Remember, I have to have this car inspected once every year. The install looks pretty easy. It will save me a lot of headache. I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow and tell them about it. I'll get back with you with his response.
Thanks again,
EOLJR

I bet you could sell that euro tail light. Then you would be making some of your money back.

OK let me get this right. Its an official euro rear fog light; its very bright when you pull the switch out 2 clicks (Ive read they are almost blinding) our cars are all prewired to simply plug it in?

If yes, its a functional euro taillight with rear fog light, then I WILL buy it off you TODAY...PM sent

No! It is not a functional euro taillight with rear fog light. It is a regular taillight assembly with a red lense where the white one normally goes. The PA dealerships actually sells these lenses even though they are not legal in PA. Makes no sense to me. You must have two of the same lights. You cannot have mix/matched lights, one red and one white.
Thanks,
EOLJR

I was wondering about this whole issue a while back. Peridically online I'd see several different "versions" of XF rear lights (like the one above)

My wife and I rented a Citroen in Paris a few years back. All through France, Switzerland, and Italy people behind us kept their high-beams on and beeped their horns.

We knew the passing rules (stay out of the left lane unless passing), so we couldn't figure out why the other drivers were so angry at us. Did they hate Citroens? Did they know we were Americans?

No. It was the DAMN REAR FOG LIGHT! When you have the fog lights on, one very bright red light is illuminated in the left tail light assembly.

Once we figured that out at a gas station, we understood.

Can you take a picture and post it? I may be willing to trade you with one of mine that has the correct clear light. we don't have inspections here in MN so I'd have nothing to worry about.

If the car came from NJ, you better check to see if the turn signals work. All cars in that state seem to have that function disabled.

A severe problem here in Alabama too, sad to say!

These folks seem to think that turn signals are a factory option.

Im very interested in this light assembly. I figure I can hook up a small toggle switch in the cabin, get power from (splice) the rear parking light and just run it to the back up/fog lamp. This way the back up lamp would still illuminate when car is in reverse, albiet it will be red, but also illuminate when toggle switch is activated. Only one question folks, do they make a brighter than stock back up bulb that wont set off the light out warning lamp or cause a melt down? Im looking to have it about brake light bright

thanks

Curtis

Thanks for the offer to switch lights, but I already ordered a new one. As for anyone who wants it, I'll give it to you if you pay the shipping cost after I've installed the new one. I'm attempting to post a picture of it, if I can perform the process correctly. Green-Ghost has the first preference if he wants it. Sounds like he has a good use of it. s40guy, Mine looks axactly as the ones in your photo. The turn signals do work.
P.S. How do I post those large photos? Mine came out as a thumbnail.
Thanks,
EOLJR

Dibs if green Ghost doesn't take it. I actually have the headlight switch with the second detent for this very lamp and the right one that would match.

I didn't mean to cause any riff here, But Green-Ghost did make the first offer and he still wants it. I will PM him when my new one comes and is installed. It was shipped out to me today. I hope to have it installed by one day next week.
Thanks to all,
EOLJR
