mine did the same thing
Does that look like brushes to you?
do a search.
waldigs cracked as well, so have many other members. there is lots of data on here showing that. if that impeller dries out from sitting around it will fail.
there are members on here with over 100,000 miles on their stock pump because they drive their car.

no thanks on the johnson pump that is shown to blow fuses.
no thanks on the one you are talking about that required several mods to get to work and who knows if it will cause electrical issues.
the $80 lightning pump is cheap, is the same as the stock pump and works great.
the high dollar pumps do not make your car faster, you can not see it to show off to your friends and brag so why spend the extra $ and risk blown fuses or worse?
it truley amazes me that you think this car was the first to have pump issues. the 32's were built 3 yrs before your car was even an idea and the pumps were failing.
impeller failure is but one issue of the bosch pump.
im not here to have a pissing contest with you. i know thats what you strive for in a lot of your posts.
the meziere pump has been used on countless m/b for quite a while now without any issues. if you choose to venture away from your single source forum you will find much info on the i/c pump issue dating back to early 2001.
