Well it took a while but I got to the bottom of it. There is only one part for both the roadster and coupe.

It is Chrysler part number 5140795AA. Retails for about $150.

There is a need for the part in BOTH cars. In the coupe, with an automatic you do need it or a very skinny screw driver if you have electrical (battery) problems. You use this tool to get it out of park. This is a problem if you need to have the car towed and have this issue. See your owners manual.

In the roadster, you need it for an automatic for the same reason as the coupe above and also to raise and lower the top manually. HCarter also was super in telling us you also need a 6 allen wrench. Hope this clears up the issue.
