Re: New Mod coming soon
So, I got the Devil Horns and the tubes from TVT, and today I installed
them. Man, am I pleased with the result. This really makes a nice change
in the engine compartment, and looking through the horns as I installed
them, I was amazed at how open the rubber tubing is. This is certainly a
necessary mod to open up the air flow.
Now, the install was not problem free. Especially on the drivers side, where
the opening through the radiator support is smaller. Included with the
horns was a smaller rubber tube, and then a pipe section that is used to
step up the opening to the full 3" for the TVT tube coming from the SL55
filter box. However, I just could not find a way to make things work with
this short pipe section. It would not go far enough towards the radiator
support to allow the TVT tube enough room to connect up with the SL55
filter box.
So, I did away with the short step up pipe, and took about 1 5/8" off the
end of the TVT tube for the drivers side. Now, things fit nicely, and lines
up just right so the air filter boxes can sit on their *****.
The passenger side was pretty straight forward. Everything matched up
quite nicely and the final look is awesome.
On the way home, I found a nice quite stretch of road where I could put
it to the test. Using the Kat Matrix that was mentioned on the forum some
time back (thanks for the tip!), I did a quick 0 to 60 test, and turned a
4.32. I think I could have done better, as the rear wheels spun quit a bit,
and the car was slipping to the left a bit. Raised a bit of smoke as well.
Man, this car, after nearly 6 years, still rocks!
