I knew what you were trying to do, these other people talking about how they added "ram air"
is what prompted me to post

what i meant by forcing more air thru the s/c was going from the 3/4" oem opening to the 3" opening. poor choice of words i suppose.

You get the tubes to connect to the SL55 intake filterboxes from TVT and
the Horns from Needswings. Under $250 combined, including shipping.

So, I got the Devil Horns and the tubes from TVT, and today I installed
them. Man, am I pleased with the result. This really makes a nice change
in the engine compartment, and looking through the horns as I installed
them, I was amazed at how open the rubber tubing is. This is certainly a
necessary mod to open up the air flow.

Now, the install was not problem free. Especially on the drivers side, where
the opening through the radiator support is smaller. Included with the
horns was a smaller rubber tube, and then a pipe section that is used to
step up the opening to the full 3" for the TVT tube coming from the SL55
filter box. However, I just could not find a way to make things work with
this short pipe section. It would not go far enough towards the radiator
support to allow the TVT tube enough room to connect up with the SL55
filter box.

So, I did away with the short step up pipe, and took about 1 5/8" off the
end of the TVT tube for the drivers side. Now, things fit nicely, and lines
up just right so the air filter boxes can sit on their *****.

The passenger side was pretty straight forward. Everything matched up
quite nicely and the final look is awesome.

On the way home, I found a nice quite stretch of road where I could put
it to the test. Using the Kat Matrix that was mentioned on the forum some
time back (thanks for the tip!), I did a quick 0 to 60 test, and turned a
4.32. I think I could have done better, as the rear wheels spun quit a bit,
and the car was slipping to the left a bit. Raised a bit of smoke as well.

Man, this car, after nearly 6 years, still rocks!

Coyote,
I had a similar time installing mine. I trimed the TVT tubes at each end where the bulge is(was) and then cut both ends of the reduction piece from NW so it was just long enough on each side to firmly hold the clamps. That let me get it closed to the radiator and fit the TVT tubes in snugly. I slid the coupler down onto the TVT tubes and when I had them in place, slide the coupler back up onto the box input. This makes everything much more solid than the factory SL55 tubes and gets even more air back to the TB....

AND you can hear the SC wine better too......

All I can figure is that the filter boxes on the template car must have
been set a bit farther back than mine. Either that, or I didn't understand
something about the install. In any case, it is in and it looks great.

You are right about SC whine. I hear it much better now. Certainly seems
to be breathing better. I haven't a clue how accurate the Kat Matrix is,
but I like the numbers I'm seeing.

One other thing I noticed when I was taking the grill out. The two screw
flanges on either end were cracked through. Only the center screws and
the tabs on the bottom are holding it down right now. Seems stable, but
I may want to look into replacing it before it blows off.

Coyote,

The only thing I can think of is that even though you exposed more surface area for the air to enter the intake you are still restricted at the y-pipe if you are still running the stock SRT airboxes. I didn't see anywhere you mention running the SL55 airboxes... if you are then you should see some gains.

Probably should have mentioned that that SL55 filter boxes have been
installed for a couple years now That, and the C3 pulley. And got the
tune last December. Just wish someone woule make a transparent grille
so that the Devil Horns were visible .
