Hey . . great idea ! This really is not that hard to do . . . I am thinking that I will make a flat panel with some leather material (kinda like on the doors ??) that can fit over the holes . . . would be a nicer finished touch. Barring that, you could get some black or grey plastic plugs of the correct size to fit into the holes. These should be available at any upholstery shop, or auto parts supply shop . . .
