Default Re: Clutch Replacement!

Thanks Boiler, just glad to help out anyone else!

It's kinda disturbing that I'm the only active member that has gone through this.. Didn't think I drove her -that- hard.. But regardless of whether it was personal driving style, mechanical malfunction, or a combination thereof, if my experience helps someone, then glad to be of service.

Yeah, I can go ahead and PM you his office number. I don't have a home number for him, just the number for his shop. I doubt he'd mind, especially if you two have talked before. And yes, once it has already been done, it's easy to get done again.

Ok, so the three parts you need are a slave cylinder, a release bearing (I remembered the name!), and the flywheel. I don't remember exact prices, but the flywheel was around $850 - $900, I don't remember how much the slave cylinder was, and the release bearing was ballpark $300ish? Maybe $350.. I think those were the three that are needed.. You need a new release bearing and slave cylinder every time you do a clutch replacement, essentially, so those are pretty set prices. And again, the flywheel may be able to be engineered in the future, if we can drum up enough interest for it.

So labor hours total.. Well, I couldn't really be a decent judge on that. What with it taking them 5 freaking weeks to get my clutch out (yes, 5... >.>) and then dicking me around for 3 weeks before I finally said to hell with it and got it towed out of there.. I think with a dedicated mechanic, you could probably get the entire thing done in two days, maybe three tops. Possibly quicker, but I'm going to say that, just to be safe. Was looking at the manual again this morning, and I think that's easily do-able.

Well, if anyone else can think of anything else I can help with, please feel free to either shoot me a PM, or leave a reply on the thread! I def still check it, and sorry again that I didn't post this stuff earlier.
