RCM's are known to have faulty solder on some boards. A weak battery could be the culprit as well, as these cars do funny things when the battery begins to go. If the battery is original, it is due for replacement.

Maybe someone else can chime in, but I did not think that a crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor would cause these issues without throwing a code. I could be wrong though. It wouldn't be the first time.
