Welcome to the forum and congrats on getting a great car,,,as for the smell you might want to put the hood in the vertical position so you can inspect the back of the enjine for any leaks around the back of the valve covers also take the enjine cover off for a better view.... i'm sure more will chime in here with other ideas, good luck i'm sure its only minor...
