You do need to fix this but you don't need keys or ignition switches - the problem is the steering lock housing. You can replace it or fix it yourself for free - instructions in above post.

rekcah took his apart after fixing it and made a PDF file with step by step directions just to help out anyone who wanted to see how it's done. He has instructions for each situation - replacing, fixing the old one and drilling out the pin if you waited too long and can't turn the key. Might want to send it to your dealer...
