OK Infinite, I'm the n00b here but I just *have to* respond to your post. In my opinion you are one of the more knowledgable posters here yet as others have pointed out, your negative bias continues to push to the surface of each post.
If you got actual quotes (not my cousin knows a guy who paid...) of $1800. for rods and $2K for pistons then you my Xfire saavy compadre, are a full dumpster load of fail when it comes to sourcing parts. I use custom rods, pistons and flywheels in each motor I build. Guess what, Pauter Rods will make you any 6 Rods you want for $800. *any* length, *any* pin size (giant diesel cruise liner rods excluded of course but since I said any, I should add the disclaimer

) Diamond Pistons would indeed charge you $2K for any CR and bore size pistons you select, but that would be the price for 14 pistons

$1000 flywheel huh? I had one made for a FWD Chrysler turbo project last year that was $1500. But that did also include a Tilton Twin Plate racing clutch rated to 690FtLbs of torque

Ever heard of Tilton, or Pauter or even Diamond? These are all top shelf race part manufacturers. What companies are giving you quotes for parts? Maybe you prefaced your inquires with "This is the first motor I've ever built and cost is no object.."

Parts I can get for other cars for a fraction are stupid expensive for this car, and theres barely any of them.
I figured when I first bought this car that the aftermarket would catch it and run, looks like I was wrong. Hell, the 370z has only been out about a year and a half, it already has so much aftermarket support that I could build a Rolling chassis from parts.
Im just saying, I bought the car thinking it would be possible to turn it into something it can't be
