I'm coming in late on this one but I figured I would offer a suggestion in case someone stumbles upon this thread.

The solution for me was replacing the $3 batteries in my key fob. I had an inkling it might be my car's obnoxious way of telling me to replace these batteries, so to solve the problem in the short-term, I pulled the fuse the controlled the alarm system (FYI this fuse also controls the interior overhead lights).
