I was there in March and drove from Munich to Salzburg & back on the A8. I didn't see anyone driving over 160kph. Most cars were doing 130-140. One nice thing is that the big trucks stay in the right hand lane.
If you have time in Munich, check out the Duetches transportation Museum. Also I have heard that if the weather is nice the scenery at the Englischer Garden is great.
