Those are junk, but he might have been a bit more gentle/tactful in letting you know. Placing the filters in front of the grill, is of course correct-just not easy with large cone filters. I found a way around it. See center pic in my signature.

I really appreciate your understanding: but, ouch. Junk? Well, I don't plan on returning these or anything like that. I am going to use them to their highest potential. If they are lame? I just spent $59 bucks on dual intakes that look fantastic. If they provide any increase that I can feel I got my moneys worth. I'm not sure why this has to be such a touchy subject, this is about the cheapest air-intake I could buy and I want to see if I can get anything out of it by adapting it to my engine and set-up. My god.
