Cooler than a canadian squirrel's nuts
Went to the autocrosses event today and it was hotter than a caribbean hooker on nickel night and sitting in a hot car was toasty............
Decided to turn on the a/c while waiting in line and hope to not stroke out. I was worried that the car was going to really take a heat soak but it was me or the car.
TAAAAA DAAAAA the car got cooler while the a/c was on BOTH the inside and the engine!!!!!!!!! Whoa, that was a suprise to me and it worked on all 7 laps. I did not run the a/c while on the track, that would be silly.
I determined that the tstat I have is a 180 and that the engine is computer controlled to 197 via the fan speed control. BUT IN THE A/C POSITION the fan runs at a higher speed, thus the engine fell in temp even with the a/c ( heat load) on.
Now I have a 180 stat. ( how to posted on the forum ), no hood blanket, no splash shield under the engine, and the a super cooler infront of all the radiators [a/c and engine]. The hood vents are also a plus even at 93 degrees ambient.
So the next time your in line at the track try the a/c thing and see if it works for you. A cooler stat is a good idea if your into hard driving, my suggestion.
Enjoy the hottest summer weve had for a while, Woody
