Crankshaft Positioning Sensor...
Well Sunday after seeing a flick I came home and everything was great, parked the car and went inside for a quick second then back out to go to the store. I get in and turn the Key and all I get is cranking, over and over again but it won't turn over.
So I disconnect the the battery and leave it to reset and walk to the store. I come back 2 hrs later and car turns over no problem. Monday comes and I go to work and no problems, and everything is fine.
Work finishes and all seems well, then while waiting at the lights she cuts out and dies. Again car won't start and just cranks. Wait 5 minutes and again fires right up, this time with the check enine light on.
So I get home and my friend hooks up his computer and sure enough it pulls the P0335 "crankshaft position sensor fail" code and I'm at least releived it won't be hard to do seeing the great write up on the site.
So Today I call around to get prices as I need one now and have no options to order one and wait:
Canadian Tire: $190
NAAPA: $195
Mercedes Benz: $185
Parts Source: $126.50
and finally..........
Chrysler: $320!!!
I called Chrysler last and when he told me his price I laughed at him, telling him he's over $140 off from Mercedes and his reply "Oh well".
Needless to say picked up the part and had it swapped in less then 20 minutes!!
I was surprised on how quick it failed, as other members have mentioned it being sporatic with days/weeks in between!
