New York...Isn't it great. Most of the manufacturers have done away with leases as in NY as the leasor can be held responsible for damages or injuries incurred by the leasee. So we have Smartbuy or whatever they want to call it. The catch is you must pay sales tax on the full price of the vehicle even if it's only a two year lease. Before, with true leases, only the lease payment was taxable. The result is the consumer pays more and the state digs their hand deeper in our pockets. This stinks.
