Kara, had the same exact problem. It turned out to be the bearing in the fan motor. Need to take fan out of it's cradle (easy) then press the motor out of fan assembly (hard) than go to NAPA and purchase the bearing, I paid $16. and they got it for me the next day. Assembly not too difficult. Good luck.
