Jim, is that a C32 or a SLK32 stub?
if it is a wider diff there will be NO play,,because the axle will have less room to move. when i installed two spring clips on one axle there was no play,, but the axle was very hard to remove. one clip everything worked good but there was play. if it was my rear i would add the two spring clips so it is tight and never plan removing them,, why couldn't you guys just get crossfire axles from a limited they are the same as srt ones ,then there would not be any question>? jim
