re: *Needed* 20 to Pre-order Wavetrac LSD for SLK32/SRT-6
the C32 and the 2004 crossfire both use the stub shaft---
quote" The SRT-6 uses a complete half-shaft which is held in with a tension circlip/snap-ring. So, you guys need to pull the axles to drop the diff. But, the axles can be "popped" out of the diff without removing these clips.---spring clips that are on the end of the 6 axle
As far as us SLK32 guys changing axles... That is NOT the route I want to take, not to mention the extra cost. If you measure the splined area on the SLK stub axle, I'm sure you will find that all the dimensions (that matter) are the same. ---the splined area is the same but the gap where the clip spring or c clip is different the stub shaft is .130 to find a spring clip to fill this so there would be no slop would be the best ,but it is too strong and the axle would not go in or out I did that in the vidio the grove on the 6 is ,084 , when i put that spring on the axle stub i could not install it into the read even used a mallet. The only thing us SLK guys will need to do is find the proper tension circlip/snap-ring to keep the axle in with minimal slop. IMO, the slop will cause unnecessary wear on the inner CV-joint. I don't think so,,,,but adding two of the spring clips that works there is no slop but you have to use a slide hammer to get the axle stub out of the rear. jim
