While it's possible the gas may be causing the issue, it's unlikely to be the culprit, especially if this has been going on for 3 years. Gasoline quality is tightly controlled now and unless there is a repetative bad actor, and you are filling up at that station all the time, I wouldn't expect the fuel to be the issue.

Seems more likely to be the oxygen sensor or the fuel management control system.
