Default Crossfire Possibly A Rebuilt Wreck?

I bought my Roadster as "new" in August 2009 with 51 miles. The dealership provided all the appropriate paperwork detailing this. Of course, the last model year was 2008 so it sat on the lot for about a year.

After a few months I discovered there was a leak in the windshield wiper fluid pan/hosing. I was shocked that any dealer would sell a car without first checking this. Because the dealer is in Ohio and I live in Virginia, I took it to another dealer closer by.

The Virginia dealer tells me that I have to pay for the repair since Chrysler will not reimburse them. I tell them to shove it, that I'm not going to chase down Chrysler to reimburse me. They say that the pan/hosing is from a hardtop, and that the original dealer performed an unauthorized repair that Chrysler will not cover. Aren't the parts for the Roadster and Coupe exactly identical? I think the Virginia dealer just made that up to get money out of me. As I'm walking out the door, the Virginia dealer tells me that other parts in the car do not match, and that it probably was wrecked and rebuilt from junkyard parts. I find this hard to believe, I think the Virginia dealer was just pissed I didn't pay and wanted to get back at me.

So...is this even possible? Could I have bought a car which was wrecked/flooded etc and sold as "new". If so, is there any way I could check or verify this by looking up the VIN etc.? I did all of the Carfax stuff before buying.

Thanks for your help.
