Default A question about High Mileage...

So, I introduced myself in another thread and mentioned I am looking to buy an SRT-6... Truth is I really SHOULD wait for about 6 months before buying it due to some work being done on my house and the costs associated with it, BUT, I have been bitten by the bug to get one soon. (And you guys aren't helping! )

Ideally I would like to find one that has already been slightly modified so that I can focus on my other cars for mods... This is what originally brought me here and I HAVE been watching the For Sale section for a few weeks now...

Additionally though, if I could get one at a GREAT price not modified it would work out ok too as I would have more money to work on it out of the gate. With that said, I have seen a few going in the Low 14s, high 13s on Autotrader.

The question is though, those with low prices tend to have higher mileage. In fact one right now for mid $13s has just under 100,000 miles. Truth is, I am buying this car to drive it, A LOT (I travel for work). I usually dont worry too much about mileage, I have rebuilt a few engines and replaced some gaskets before and thats usually all to worry about, but since this will be a car used for work I need MINIMUM down time....

In your experience, how big of a risk is this, to take one of these engines sitting at 100K miles already drop an intake, Pulley and Tune on and then run the heck out of it for atleast 3- 4 years?

(I am meticulous about keeping up with oil changes, changing and maintaining all the fluids etc, so keep that in the equation.)

***EDIT: I have decided to hold off on a lower mileage option, see post #9 for more detail, THANKS EVERYONE!
